<aside> 📖
the death of ourselves and everything we care about is, arguably, the most critical fact about our entire existence. it is a subject explored extensively in religion, culture, art and literature. and yet, in our secular modernity, death has taken a back seat for many of us, as though it is no longer relevant or something that we need to worry about.
in this circle, we will bring the idea of death back into our collective and personal consciousness. we will give ourselves the opportunity to reflect on death, confront its implications, and explore how we can, want, or should relate to it in our lives. we will be tackling the subject of death mainly through discussion, but also through a variety of other practices such as making art, visiting cemeteries, meditating, and reading.

anyone who:
up to 6 people
week 1: introduce ourselves, set some expectations for the 6 weeks, share about our current relationship with death.
week 2-5: explore the topic of death through prompted conversations, reflective writing, art making, cemetery visits, contemplation, reading, and more.
week 6: summarizing and reflecting on the circle experience. try to draw some conclusions regarding our relationship to death.
most meets will take place somewhere in shinjuku or nakano city (I will ask for everyones preferred area and adapt based on that).
the precise locations will adapt to the activity at hand, but I will try to be outside in parks or cemeteries when possible. If a table is needed for writing or similar, we will be indoors, either in a cheap café or in my apartment close to shin-nakano station.
tuesdays 19.00 - 21.30 (october 7th- november 11th)
join this if you think that death is an important or interesting topic that you want to explore more in your life. the circle will give you the chance to get a bit more comfortable thinking and talking about death, and will help you work on your own relationship to it.
besides learning about death, i also believe this will be a chance to meet others who value existential conversations, and share meaningful moments of reflection together.
