overview

• A collaborative circle where we explore a different Tokyo neighborhood each week through the lens of its coffee scene. This is a "co-discovery" group, where we will work together to find cool cafes, walk the hidden backstreets between them, and learn about different pockets of the city.
• Tokyo has so many amazing neighborhoods that are best seen on foot, but it's easy to get stuck in our usual routines. I want to create a reason for us to get out of our bubbles and visit areas we might otherwise skip. Using coffee shops as a main focus, we can explore the city and connect with new friends in a low-pressure environment.
• Each week we will:
  • Visit 2-3 cafes in a neighborhood
  • Chat and walk between stores
  • Decide on next week's neighborhood together as a group, based on what everyone is curious to see next. </aside>

who is it for?

anyone who:

• Can make the set weekly time in Tokyo (Saturdays 10:00-12:00)
• Speaks English (conversational)
• Enjoys walking or sitting down to chat over coffee
• Is curious about neighborhoods they rarely visit

how many people can join?

Up to 6 people. Keeping it small to ensure we can fit at a single table or stand in a circle comfortably at smaller cafes.

what's the schedule?

approximate activity each week:

• Week 1 (March 14): Kickoff - We start in Oku-Shibu cafes with introductions, visiting a few shops and deciding on the Week 2 location.
• Week 2 (March 21): Nakameguro - tentative, and can change based on what is decided by the group.
• Week 3 (March 28): Shimokitazawa - tentative, and can change based on what is decided by the group.
• Week 4 (April 4): Kichijoji - tentative, and can change based on what is decided by the group.
• Week 5 (April 11): Omotesando - tentative, and can change based on what is decided by the group.
• Week 6 (April 18): Wrap Up - final coffee neighborhood (or return to Oku-Shibu) and share a "Best of" reflection.

where will we meet?

Since this circle is about exploring coffee neighborhoods in Tokyo, the meeting location will vary each week. For our first gathering, we'll meet in Oku-Shibu!

when will we meet?

Saturdays, 10:00 to 12:00

why join?

Tokyo is huge, and it's easy to get stuck in your own bubble. This circle gives you a chance to explore new areas you might otherwise skip, and add some new coffee spots to your list that you might have not known about!

any costs related to the circle will be shared by participants.
